“Islam was spread by the sword’ is one of the most common misconceptions in the mind of non-Muslims.

As the religion of peace, how can Islam be spread by the sword?

Have you heard this saying before?

In order to clear such misunderstanding about Islam, you have to start from the very meaning of the word Islam.

Allah says:

Yes! whoever submits His whole self to Allah and is a doer of good,- He will get his reward with his Lord; on such will be no fear, nor will they grieve. (Al-Baqarah 2:112)

So, Islam in short means peace acquired by submitting oneself  to Almighty God. So, how can such peace be spread by the sword?

And if this is the case, what do police forces in world countries do? Are they there to spread violence and horror?

If we, Muslims, say, know that Islam is the religion of peace, from where does this misconception come and how to clear it up?
